Aimee Gendusa-English spent five years at the National Community Action Partnership (NCAP) developing their Energy Partnerships portfolio. Through several federal grants, subcontracts, and foundation-funded initiatives, Aimee built key bridges between local providers of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the architects of change in the national energy efficiency and renewable energy arena.
Previously, at the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) of Illinois, Aimee dedicated seventeen years to direct community education and engagement on a variety of complex legislative and regulatory issues. In the state’s LIHEAP/WAP Policy Advisory Council, she directly helped create and launch a state-funded Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) utility assistance program.
At CUB she developed a deep understanding of Public Utility Commission processes, especially the deployment of stakeholder input requirements. She also supported the work of a statewide coalition to create the Illinois Power Agency (IPA), an independent generation procurement manager; this paved the way for subsequent innovation in consumer-friendly solar deployment through the Illinois Shines and Illinois Solar For All programs, now considered best-practice models.
